Medical practitioner with specialist training in anaesthesia and intensive care.
Dr Jo-Anne Mileham is a highly qualified specialist doctor with knowledge and skills in general anaesthesia, preoperative medicine, paediatrics and obstetrics. She is a staff specialist and supervisor of training (SOT), and her other interests include anaesthetic airway lead and environmental sustainability in healthcare.
She enjoys working in the theatre environment, caring for patients, ensuring their safety and providing expert, quality and friendly care. She considers it a privilege to have the skills and knowledge to help patients to journey through the sometimes intense or stressful experience of having a surgical procedure and assisting them to gain the best possible outcome.
Dr Mileham attained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Cape Town in 1996 and a Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) at the College of Medicine South Africa in 1998.
She trained in anaesthesia at the University of Cape Town until 2004 when she became a Fellow of the College of Anaesthesia South Africa (FCASA). She then worked in the UK for two years before returning to private practice in Durban for four years.
Dr Mileham moved to Western Australia in 2011 and has worked at Bundaberg Hospital since 2012. She became a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in 2013.
Away from work, Dr Mileham is a mother who enjoys the outdoors, swimming and cooking.
